Pokémon Pokopia Reviews
Pokémon Pokopia is an excellent life simulation game that takes the best bits from the champions of the genre and evolves into something that Pokémon fans, and cozy game fans will love. Late-game grinding doesn't dull an adventure that's as full of discovery at 100 hours as it was at 1
No Pokémon game has ever made me want to stay up past my bedtime like this one.
Pokopia is great and it’s going to easily be in my top 10 games of 2026. It’s just a nice experience to see kindness in the face of tragedy which the plot of Pokopia explores. None of the Pokémon fight, they are kind and simply enjoy playing (something that The Pokémon Company has always said in the face of animal abuse allegations but never fully explored in game). I think Pokopia is going to force a lot of games in the cozy genre to reevaluate what they are doing because there’s both freedom and structure for the player and it does an amazing job balancing both. It’s just good vibes.
Pokémon Pokopia is cuteness overload with low-stakes, but still an intriguing story. You'll never run out of anything to do and put hours of fun into this game.
Despite how much I’ve played the main games in both Animal Crossing and Pokémon since the early/mid-2000s, I didn’t expect that both of Nintendo’s biggest time-sink franchises would meld together so well, and yet Pokémon Pokopia has just blasted off straight to the top of my list of favourite cozy games.
Pokémon Pokopia reignited my fading love for the series. This cozy life sim shines with its unusual setting and mystery-filled world. Rebuilding abandoned ruins, attracting new Pokémon, and caring for them is deeply satisfying. Its surprisingly deep mechanics offer impressive freedom, whether I’m constructing homes, crafting items, or exploring alongside Pokémon companions. Packed with charm and attention to detail, it constantly evokes a sense of wonder and nostalgia. In short, Pokémon Pokopia is finally a truly great Pokémon game — and better than anything the mainline series has delivered in the past decade.

Pokemon Pokopia reimagines what it means to be a Pokemon, blending cozy building systems with open-ended creativity to deliver one of the most addictive gameplay loops the series has ever seen.
Pokopia is a 2026 Game of the Year contender that masterfully blends the creative freedom of Minecraft with the cozy charm of Animal Crossing. By trading traditional battling for an addictive loop of habitat restoration and blueprint-based building, it offers a deeply rewarding new way to collect Pokémon.
This collaborative effort provides a welcomed change of pace for longtime fans of the franchise, whilst serving as an alternative for newcomers who don’t favour the series’ typical turn-based offering. The end result is charming, soothing, and oh so incredibly moreish. Pokémon Pokopia showcases the type of reinvention you want to see in a franchise’s 30th year.
Pokémon Pokopia is a charming and entertaining life simulation game in which you collaborate with various Pokémon to improve the desolate places you arrive at. Whether you're completing story objectives or simply rejuvenating locations, the hours fly by with immense sweetness and fun.

"...even with so many systems and so much “stuff” to account for, the formula here is nearly perfect and I find myself struggling for things to truly complain about. Pokemon Pokopia is a master class in cozy game design and an absolute triumph."
It’s been a long time since I’ve been so pleasantly blown away by a game, but Pokémon Pokopia has continued to surprise and delight me with every step. This is no doubt going to be one of the standout games of the Nintendo Switch 2 and of the year, as the addictive gameplay loop, charming world and characters, and seemingly endless amount of content make it 100% worth playing.
Pokémon Pokopia is a massive love letter to the series, one that fittingly hits in the 30th year. It’s the gold standard of Pokémon spin-offs, letting you live in a Pokémon playground.
Ultimately, Pokémon Pokopia succeeds because it understands Pokémon at a fundamental level. It recognizes that the appeal of the series isn’t just about collecting creatures or filling a Pokédex; it’s about the sense of adventure, discovery, and companionship that comes from exploring a world filled with these iconic monsters. By leaning into that idea and building an enormous, engaging experience around it, Pokopia becomes something special.
Pokémon Pokopia is the ultimate childhood fantasy brought to life, with it stripping away the traditional combat and gym badges and replacing them with pure wonder, creativity, and a heartwarming sense of community. It is a brilliant, funny, and deeply engaging sandbox that respects the franchise’s legacy and the nostalgia that players have for the world. It’s just a really special game, and doesn’t only stand out as arguably the best game on the Nintendo Switch 2 right now, but also one of the best games in the Pokémon series.
Pokémon Pokopia not only proves itself to be a revolutionary title within the Pokémon series, but also within the sandbox and life sim genres as a whole, elevating them to a new level.

Pokémon Pokopia is a wonderful and unique game that has already stolen hundreds of hours from me, and I know it will steal thousands more. It’s a visually and aurally stunning game, and that’s just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to its merits. It’s a game brimming with emotion, warmth, and love that will warm even the coldest and harshest of hearts. And yet, it hides beneath the surface the unimaginable sadness and hopelessness of the entire situation. The core of the game, however, is very addictive. Repairing and rebuilding the world is incredibly fun and satisfying. Additionally, it allows you to create magnificent structures and regions where you’re limited only by your imagination. Pokémon Pokopia is one of those games that warps time. You sit down to play for a moment, feel like fifteen minutes have flown by, and when you look at your watch, it shows you that 16 hours have passed.

I love Pokopia more than any other Pokémon game in recent years. It's the kind of adoration that makes me revisit old favorites and wonder how long I've taken the series for granted. By mixing up genre staples and smartly updating familiar tropes, Pokopia makes Pokémon feel new again.
As with pretty much all the other Pokopia reviews out there, I am loving this game. There is so much to do and spend time doing, crafting items for all the Pokémon as per their requests or even just decorating your own home. You will not be bored playing through Pokopia. So don’t delay, if you haven’t picked up Pokopia yet, then what are you waiting for? It feels like the complete game. Pokopia recieves the Thumb Culture Platinum Award.
