As a long-time fan, it’s hard to ask for much more from a Resident Evil game. Resident Evil Requiem feels like a fitting and memorable send-off, the last chapter in a story that has been going on for more than 30 years.

Capcom has produced an absolute labour of love with Resident Evil Requiem and every ounce of the game is brimming with intricate detail that will both test and delight gamers at the same time. It's not often you get an experience where it leaves players truly hungry for more (brains?), but after scouring every nook and cranny, uncovering all the meticulously pieced together puzzles and hidden elements, before finally blasting through the final stages, after barely being able to get your breath back, there is a desire for more. The role switching and perspective shifting might sound daunting on paper, but has been expertly interweaved by the masterful hands of those at the helm. This is truly the pinnacle of the long-running survival horror series, and one that will be hard-pressed to match in the future, not merely for Capcom, but more so for its rivals in the genre. A true masterpiece of the current generation, without a doubt, taking the supreme legacy of the series and elevating it to new heights.

After thoroughly immersing myself in this installment of the Resident Evil series, I can confidently assert that Resident Evil Requiem stands out as one of the best entries in the franchise. The combination of thrilling action, well-developed characters, and a gripping plot not only kept me on the edge of my seat but also made me reflect on the choices I had to make throughout the game.

Resident Evil Requiem is one of the best, if not the best, Resident Evil games I've ever played. And I mean ever. The controls, the level(s) of difficulty, the characters, and the story are all immersive. The only thing I wanted to put down are those zombies. Capcom has done it again.

Resident Evil Requiem is a masterclass in survival horror. It expertly blends the classic style with more action-oriented outings, features outstanding stage design, and contains some of the most interesting zombies ever seen in a video game. Capcom has proven itself yet again; one can’t help but feel a bit sad when the credits roll—not because of the story, but because you know you’ll never get to experience this game for the first time again. It is truly something special.

The game successfully mixes old-school and modern elements. As Leon S. Kennedy, you get witty one-liners and over-the-top action sequences. As Grace Ashcroft, the experience shifts to slower, more psychological horror. You solve complex puzzles and face enemies you can’t always defeat until later in the game. If you’re a fan of the Resident Evil series—or even just curious—Resident Evil Requiem is an easy recommendation.

The Switch 2 port of Resident Evil Requiem basically sold me on the system’s potential as a whole. If other ports felt like small appetizers and proofs of concept, this felt like the real deal: I am sold on the system’s capabilities, graphical output, and overall potential. Grabbing this game on the Switch 2 doesn’t feel like a setback: you’re going to have the same experience as anyone else, with great graphics, decent enough performance, and the added benefit of portability.

The ninth installment of the Resident Evil series was able to take us on a journey that might be one of the best in the history of the series—a journey that blends revealing the secrets of the past and paving the way for the future, amidst an atmosphere saturated with horror and excitement throughout the experience. Capcom succeeded in presenting a wonderful story and a distinctive gameplay style; it even provided an experience that satisfied two audiences at once: the horror audience with the tension, survival, and mystery it carried, and the excitement audience with the enthusiastic encounters and thrilling moments it included. Despite the presence of some padding here and there, and the discarding of an important element that was an authentic part of the series' identity, which is puzzles, the final result was very strong and distinctive.

Requiem is an exhilarating hybrid that feels like a blueprint for the series’ future. While it stumbles slightly in scale and narrative, the blend of dread and power proves the franchise is on the right path. A flawed but hopeful essential.

Overall, Resident Evil: Requiem is a very fun game that blends horror and chaotic gunplay well together, allowing for two different gameplay genres to blend together in a way that doesn’t force the player into a bad situation but allows them to alter their gameplay style on the fly. The game’s overall story is brilliant, with a lot of memorable moments that will stick with gamers for years, while also bringing back old memories from the original games. The game’s world is beautiful with so much detail that players will never be able to spot it all, while also being able to use this game world to their advantage within the gameplay loop.

It goes without saying that Resident Evil is back with a brand-new chapter that will stay with players for a long time. Not only have the developers managed to restore the series to its former glory, but they’ve also introduced enough new features to convince all fans to give it a try. Grace and Leon are a joy to play, and their duality adds plenty of variety throughout the 10 to 12 hours it takes to complete the game. Honestly, this bodes very well for what’s to come, whether it’s a remake or a new title. All that’s left is to be patient—which is far from easy!

Resident Evil Requiem is an amalgamation of different ideas, eras and creative intents. But instead of trying to harmonize them into a straightforward experience, the game does the opposite. It celebrates Resident Evil's legacy as a whole - as a horror game, an intense action, as a spy thriller, and as a science fiction. Resident Evil is all of those things simultaneously, and it has never been more apparent than now.

Requiem combines various elements of the series into a unique experience that encapsulates everything Resident Evil has achieved up to this point. At the same time, it transports this experience to one of the most iconic settings in video game culture, one that transcends generations. It’s a blend of nostalgia and a glimpse into the series’ future. The game seems to bring certain story arcs to a close while paving the way for new games, stories, and characters, all without forgetting its legacy.

Resident Evil Requiem seems like the end of everything the series has learned in the last thirty years. It has puzzles, horror, action, and silly spectacle all in one tightly paced ten-hour game that never wastes your time. Every hallway, encounter, and puzzle seems important. It pays homage to the fear of older games while still embracing the explosive style of later ones.

Resident Evil Requiem doesn’t reinvent the franchise. It doesn’t need to. Instead, it refines, consolidates, and elevates the modern Resident Evil formula into something cohesive, confident, and deeply satisfying. Leon’s campaign is a masterclass in action‑horror design, while Grace’s story brings emotional depth and atmospheric tension that lingers long after the credits roll. This is a game made by a studio that knows its craft — and trusts it. A superb, assured entry that stands proudly alongside the series’ best.
