Critic Reviews for Psyvariar 3
Psyvariar 3 is a technical challenge, and an ultra satisfying arcade shooter experience. It's lacking in some much-needed tutorials and introductions, but once you do figure out how to Buzz and Level Up, it opens up one of the most unique and rewarding shoot-em-up games you'll ever experience.
Psyvariar 3 will remain installed on my Nintendo Switch 2 for quite a while simply because of its engaging, highly-difficult, yet highly-rewarding gameplay loop of grazing bullets and racking up high scores. It falls short in the graphical department, but it makes up for it in properly executing a bullet hell that caters for those who want a true shmup challenge.
Psyvariar 3 is quite an ugly game, but it makes up for it with solid vertically-scrolling shooter gameplay and a wide range of playable characters and modes.
It's time for a new generation of Psyvariars to save humanity before it's too late!
Psyvariar 3 is an excellent shoot 'em up that's jam-packed with variety and challenges that'll keep you blasting away for hours upon hours.
The Banana Bytes team managed to avoid giving the impression of pure homage in Psyvariar 3, instead creating a worthy sequel that maintains what gives the work its identity without being a mere copy that could be seen as a fangame.

Psyvariar 3 is a confident return for Success’ long-dormant shmup series, delivering a fast-paced bullet hell experience built around risk-reward gameplay and deep replayability.
Psyvariar 3 is a very solid return for a series that had been silent for over two decades, maintaining its identity based on constant risk and the buzz system, which remains as addictive as ever. Its enormous variety of modes, characters, and options make it a surprisingly complete and replayable shoot 'em up, especially for those who enjoy delving into its systems. It's not a perfect game, with uneven audiovisuals and some balance issues between characters, but it is a very consistent, fun experience that stays true to its legacy. It's one of those titles that clearly gets better the more you play it.
