I've been saving this score for a long time for a special game here in the site, and I can say with no doubt that this game deserves the score, and I hope that, if you eventually play it, you may comprehend it.

Hashihime of the Old Book Town Append is undoubtedly a hidden gem among the catalog of visual novels available on the Nintendo Switch. The work certainly lives up to its appeal, making it a title worthy of a chance for lovers of a good time travel story, mystery or romance.

I genuinely have very little complaints about TSUKIHIME -A piece of blue glass moon-. It is the ideal remake of a story that contains dated elements, but still had the potential to become one of Type-Moon's classics, with the ability to share space with its more popular brother. The game not only proves this, but puts on a great show, leveraging the expected quality of games from this genre with a similar budget, almost breaking the barrier between a visual novel and an anime, to the point where part of me feels that an anime adaptation would not do justice to the animations present in this game, although a Tsukihime anime would be cool. Too bad it never had one.

About the fact that Luigi’s Mansion 2 is still a port of a Nintendo 3DS game, I personally don’t see any problems with that. The scenarios, of course, show some signs of their origin, but the remastering — if we can call it that — and the sharp art direction created a feeling that this game almost couldn't be made any other way, The controls were perfectly adapted for the Nintendo Switch and a great strength ends up being its structure, because even though the console is also a portable, few games are made considering this as a priority. Of course, most games these days you save wherever you want, and it's virtually possible to pause any game anywhere using the Home menu. With that said, Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD’s level structure is perfect for playing on the go.

10 / 10.0 - Unicorn Overlord
Mar 26, 2024

Unicorn Overlord is a strategic RPG that already demonstrates at its launch the qualities to become a great classic of the genre. This is an exemplary title that manages to bring great freshness to a market that insists on mostly repeating the same tactical structure over and over instead of looking at other possibilities. Equally deep in mechanics and inviting to newcomers, there's no real reason not to recommend it to all players.

Octopath Traveler 2 is an incredible game that manages to expand on every aspect of the first game, the combat system is my favorite in a turn-based RPG, It has a huge range for customization and experimentation, the soundtrack is impeccable with several themes that stick in your head for years to come, all the characters were charismatic and their stories were memorable, the world was fun to explore and interact with its inhabitants, and the story gave a very satisfying conclusion to the journey of all the characters we followed, even with a very exciting epilogue for those who wanted to enjoy everything this adventure had to offer. Although it's still not perfect, Octopath Traveler 2 was certainly one of my favorite experiences not only with the JRPG genre, but with games in general.

10 / 10.0 - Freedom Planet 2
Apr 4, 2024

Freedom Planet 2 is one of the best and most complete 2D platformers I've ever played in my entire life. It's a clear evolution of everything the first game did, and it's really difficult to find problems in a package that executes everything it offers to do so impeccably. For fans, the 7-year wait (9, in the case of consoles) was more than worth it: the sequel maintains all the essence of the original while doing much more to step out of the shadows of SEGA's blue hedgehog, finally establishing Freedom Planet 1 and 2 as modern classics. For newcomers, the console release is the perfect chance to experience what I consider to be one of the best indie games ever made.

ENDER MAGNOLIA: Bloom in the Mist expands on much of what was seen in its predecessor. It's beautiful, fun, and challenging in just the right amount. In my opinion, it goes on a little longer than it should in terms of its narrative. Technically, it's an impeccable game that performs well on the Switch, whether docked or in portable mode. It's one of the best — if not the best — releases of the year so far.

10 / 10.0 - Afterlove EP
Feb 13, 2025

Afterlove EP carries the essence of underground indie rock band culture, with the entire atmosphere of the game centered around this aesthetic, and can be metaphorically described as the sound of a distorted guitar playing the melancholic chord progressions of a garage band song. It's a game about sadness, but it's also an optimistic game about resilience.

10 / 10.0 - Persona 4 Golden
Feb 13, 2023

Persona 4 Golden, despite not being perfect, was an excellent experience in form, content and substance. It left an impression on me that managed to reflect on my way of seeing things in real life and that in itself already guarantees its place as a universal recommendation from me.

Phantom Breaker: Battle Grounds Ultimate combines the aesthetic of chibi characters with an addictive beat 'n up, blending fighting game mechanics from the original Phantom Breaker. Despite the constant threat of Phantom and his minions, Mikoto, Waka, Itsuki, and Yuzuha's journey to rescue Nagi is filled with fun and challenging moments, featuring a well-balanced relationship between challenge and reward due to its various difficulty levels.

10 / 10.0 - Pikmin 4
Jul 30, 2023

Verdict: Pikmin 4 is an excellent game. There is no reason (apart from the price, of course) not to fall in love with PNF-404, Oatchi and the adorable Pikmin.

The game as a whole successfully carries on the legacy of its predecessors and further expands one of the best-made RPG worlds I've ever had the pleasure of exploring. With an admirably consistent story and character writing, excellent pacing, complex and fun gameplay, Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes manages to go well beyond any expectations I had. It also manages to maintain a good frame rate at all times and ensure the visual quality of its older brother. It's a very easy recommendation for fans of the genre, and also for fans of Fire Emblem: Three Houses.

10 / 10.0 - Signalis
Nov 11, 2022

SIGNALIS is a tragic melody, like the one played by Orpheus' lyre. From the beginning, we sail with the certainty of doom, but we never stop sailing. There are no villains or evil to be avoided, but rather a world being consumed by itself, in an ungrateful, empty contempt. Still, the game is capable of teaching hope. When we reach the credits for the first time, we understand that we have not truly reached the end, and then, the player can find strength in the recovered memory, when understanding the truth behind the game's mission. From then on, our choices can lead us to three different endings that dialogue directly with the way the player interacted with the game, giving it a spiritual conclusion.

10 / 10.0 - Radiant Silvergun
Sep 28, 2022

A story of unfathomable determination on a suicide mission. A cry for artistic freedom amidst market dependency. An elaborate puzzle with intricate solutions. A complex and intense action game. An atmospheric and thoughtful work. A very well-planned progression system. Ambition and polish in harmony. An arcade game in the greatest classic style. An original work. Innovative ideas and perfect execution. Many of these phrases can be said and related to many games, but few can honor them all at the same time; and this difficult task is accomplished with frightening ease by this timeless classic.

A must-play for UNDERTALE fans, DELTARUNE is an experience that delivers as much excellence as its predecessor (if not more, considering the amount of content offered), improving combat mechanics and featuring an equally impeccable soundtrack. It's fun, funny, captivating and exciting.

Although this new entry in IREM's classic collection series only features horizontal shumps, the curation work here was extremely successful in bringing together games that have a unique synergy between them and that cater to a diverse target audience. It's very nostalgic to enjoy games that don't need anything more than addictive gameplay and attractive visuals to keep you in front of the TV or Nintendo Switch screen with a smile from ear to ear.

10 / 10.0 - Unpacking
Nov 23, 2021

In short, Unpacking has an attention to detail, an art direction and an affection for the work that is above average, and it is certainly the game I most recommend among those I analyzed this year, not for any specific audience, but rather for everyone, it has a universality when it embraces a felling common to all: that of having a home.

We can say that DK's new title has finally managed to dispel the dark days the franchise seemed to be experiencing. I believe that not even the most optimistic fans of the series were expecting something so fun, beautiful, and addictive. In short, a video game in its raw form. Donkey Kong Bananza—as the subtitle puns—is an "unexpected riches," an abundance of good things for players, and it points, once again, to the possibility of a calm and prosperous future for DK and his friends.
