Hollow Knight: Silksong builds on the strengths of its predecessor, improving every aspect of it – be it the moveset, the enemies, the world and level design, the art direction, you name it – and delivers one of the best games of recent years for just €20, making it a more than worthy successor to Hollow Knight.

Donkey Kong Bananza demonstrates with almost cheeky ease what Nintendo'd newest console is capable of and why it's definitely worth upgrading from its predecessor. The different areas are brimming with variety, the Bananza transformations add even more chaos to the game and the platforming is incredibly fun. The real star of the game however is the manipulation of the environment: it's an incredibly satisfying and almost meditative feeling to dig, blast, and smash your way through the different levels. At the same time, Bananza looks fantastic, tells a cute story, and is, in my opinion, probably the best Donkey Kong title out there.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is arguably not just one of the best games of 2025 but one of the best RPGs of recent years. The turn-based battles with real-time elements work brilliantly, the abilities and perks give players a tremendous amount of choice in how to assemble their party and the story kept me glued to the screen the entire time. At the same time the characters gain believability thanks to the fantastic voice acting and the soundtrack does its part to draw you into the enchanting world of Lumière and you'll likely not let go anytime soon.

Monster Hunter Wilds perfectly combines the strengths of its predecessors, World and Rise, making it more accessible than ever with its various quality-of-life features, while still managing to avoid overly diluting the gameplay. New features like Focus Slam and Wounds add new & fun elements to the battles and the changing weather creates the impression of a vibrant game world in which you can move (almost) completely freely.

For me, Assassin's Creed Shadow is by far the best installment in the series so far and will hopefully serve as a blueprint for future releases. The Japanese game world is incredibly well realized, the seasons and dynamic weather enhance the experience immensely and the decision to simply split the two very different gameplay aspects - stealth and action - between two characters works perfectly.

As a fan of surreal horror the game's atmosphere captivated me from the start. The PlayStation 1-esque look is tailor-made for me and the game's narrative design is incredibly well executed. The story keeps you hooked until the end and aside from a few technical glitches, there's really nothing I can find to criticize about the game. Mouthwashing is exactly the fresh mouthwash you need after AAA titles like the Silent Hill 2 remake to reawaken the beautifully disturbing and creative facets of horror.

The original setting and the story written by Ryukishi07 had me really hyped for the latest installment in the Silent Hill series from the very beginning, but I was also a little worried that the gameplay might fall flat. After my first playthrough, I was delighted with the gameplay and curious to learn more about the story. After my second playthrough, it was finally clear to me that this is one of the best Silent Hill games we've had since the PlayStation 2 era. Silent Hill f takes social problems from the realities of 1960s Japan, weaves them into an abstract folklore concept, and embeds them on a carpet of spider lilies that simply wouldn't let me go.

The many different activities keep the gameplay fresh at all times, the learning curve and difficulty level increase fairly yet challengingly, the story surprised me with several twists, even though it's essentially a typical revenge story and the game looks absolutely stunning. Ghost of Yōtei is the best sequel possible to the first installment: you can tell that Sucker Punch built upon the strengths of its predecessor, expanded upon them and simultaneously introduced new ideas to the setting, perfectly rounding out the game and making it one of the best first-party titles from PlayStation Studios in my opinion.

A Requiem is a special kind of memorial service and describes the remembrance of the dead. The ninth installment of the cult series couldn't be further from an actual requiem though. Resident Evil is definitely not dead, in fact it hasn't been this alive in a long time: Resident Evil Requiem presents itself as a playable "Best of" of the entire series, celebrating ideas from 30 years of history and completely captivating me from beginning to end. Established ideas are complemented by additional features, quality-of-life improvements and entirely new elements, while at its core it always feels truly like a Resident Evil game.

To celebrate the 30th anniversary Pokémon Pokopia leans in on the franchise's history, effortlessly bringing it into a completely new genre. The story gradually introduces new features to the players without feeling overly guided and the diverse habitats, Pokémon and items mean you can easily sink hundreds of hours into the game and still won't see everything. The multiplayer features perfectly add to the solo gaming experience, the soundtrack evokes nostalgic feelings and at the same time the game runs smoothly and without any problems on Switch 2.

Mina the Hollower isn't just a fantastic homage to the good old Game Boy Color era. It combines smart gameplay mechanics with a vibrant and expansive game world, that's brimming with secrets and surprises, while looking absolutely fantastic. Countless modifiers allow you to make the game as easy, difficult or weird as you like. The boss fights are all incredibly well-designed, the diverse weapons, sidearms, and charms perfectly suit any playstyle and the combat is complemented by precise platforming and a variety of puzzles.

For me, Cronos: The New Dawn is by far the best Bloober Team game. But even compared to other titles in the genre, it's an incredibly well made survival horror experience that convinced me with clever ideas, a fresh setting, and compelling gameplay. I wasn't the biggest fan of the Silent Hill 2 remake, but I have to give credits to this one without any major reservations and can wholeheartedly recommend it to horror fans.

- Luto

Luto is an exceptionally well made psychological horror experience and especially as debut game from an indie studio it's an impressive achievement. The game's pacing is neither too slow nor too fast and is truly well-crafted and some of the puzzles are really challenging. If you're willing to embrace the somewhat stripped-down gameplay, you'll find a well-written story that's not only entertaining but also emotionally engaging.

Compared to the first installment Death Stranding 2: On the Beach feels like a rough diamond that still went through some polishing and now shines in its full glory. Even though it lacks a few rough edges that were present before and made the game a bit more special. The game is significantly more accessible than its predecessor, which is absolutely no bad thing, and offers newcomers a chance to jump right into the game. Anyone with a PlayStation 5 at home and looking for impressive exclusives should definitely not miss the second installment of Death Stranding. But be aware that you're in for a typical Kojima game in every respect.

Yakuza 0 is a fantastic experience. Boasting a captivating story, a nearly endless array of simultaneously excellent mini-games and sub-stories, and challenging battles. And nothing about that has changed in the Director's Cut. Whether the additional cutscenes were really necessary is debatable, but the Red Light Raid mode is an addition that I personally enjoyed a lot had fun times times with it during the Switch 2 launch phase.

Mario Kart World brings a whole new level of fun and chaos to the franchise with the Knockout Tour. The field of drivers is larger than ever before and whether you're playing solo, with friends locally or online, fun is guaranteed, no matter which mode you choose. I had a quite some fun exploring the freely navigable open world both online and offline, even though I would have liked to collect a bit more than stickers. If the game gets more karts, costumes, tracks, and the like over time, I'm not worried that we'll have a lot more fun with this game also in the future.

Karma: The Dark World strives to be art, drawing on some genre classics and for the most part, it succeeds quite well, delivering an immersive and, above all, creepy experience for players. There are moments when the game is a bit too transparent and lacks deeper gameplay, but overall, these criticisms are ultimately overshadowed by the game's many virtues. I definitely had a good time and hope we'll see more from this team in the future.

When I say the series is going "back to the roots" with this game I don't just mean the setting. Everything in this game feels more grounded while at the same time all aspects of the gameplay have been refined and further developed. Dying Light: The Beast delivers the familiar parcours gameplay which still works brilliantly and expands it with incredibly entertaining boss encounters & cars that you can drive through Castor Woods. The controls are unfortunately a bit clunky and somewhat overwhelming but once you've gotten used to and internalized all the button inputs you'll be running across rooftops like a pro.

Demonschool is a unique form of tactical RPG where the combat with its distinctive mechanics and innovative ideas captivated me from the very first second and held my attention until the very end. The story surrounding Faye and her friends is incredibly fun, striking a balance between poignant moments and moments that will have you laughing out loud and the game looks absolutely stunning whether in the menus, the world itself or during battles. Sure, the game isn't perfect, and there's still room for improvement in a few areas, but these flaws don't detract significantly from my experience.

Constance handles the topic of mental health with the necessary respect yet still manages to tell a story within a fantasy setting that is both meaningful and enjoyable but still never forgetting the importance of entertaining gameplay. This balance is incredibly well done and I thoroughly enjoyed both the combat and the platforming sections. A few enemies could perhaps have benefited from a bit more balancing but ultimately it's the battles I had to replay most often that have stuck with me the most.
