10 / 10.0 - Astro Bot
Sep 9, 2024

If you own a PS5, then I do think Astro Bot is a must have for the system. Not only is it a fantastic platformer from start to finish with plenty of content for the 14 hours or so it takes to do everything, it’s also a love letter to PlayStation’s history and honestly even gaming as a whole. I honestly haven’t seen this many franchises represented in one game since Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and it was great that Sony even included series they don’t own, although some have a strong history on PlayStation as well.

Age of Mythology Retold offers significant replay value with hours of fun building your civilizations as well as defeating your enemies either by yourself or cooperatively in teams. It’s relatively easy to pick up and despite the barebones tutorial, the controls are simple enough that you should be able to learn pretty quickly. Having the game on game pass as well means that you’ll be able to always find people to play with as well as easily being able to get your friends to join in the fun.

10 / 10.0 - Selfloss
Oct 3, 2024

Selfloss is heart-wrenching and wonderful; a game that won’t spare its players the gory details, that tells a clear story in a world still veiled in mysticism. With its focus on rewarding exploration mixed with very satisfying puzzle-solving and light combat (pun intended), Selfloss is one of the best games I have played in 2024.

10 / 10.0 - Silent Hill 2
Oct 11, 2024

Nothing is ever going to take away from or replace my love for the original. It came out at a time when I hadn’t played anything like it at the time, so it made an impact that will never be recreated. Normally, I take some points off performance, and maybe I should here too, but in this case, it didn’t seem to take away from my enjoyment. I told you I’d try to answer if it lives up the Silent Hill name. Yes, yes, it does.

10 / 10.0 - Split Fiction
Mar 21, 2025

A couple times per generation a game comes along and flies close to the proverbial sun that is perfection. While no game can be truly perfect Split Fiction is about as close as they come. The backdrop of the games narrative is unique and the story told between Mio and Zoe will bring many to tears. The voice actors themselves deliver an award winning performance as well.

I firmly believe Expedition 33 is the new gold standard for the JRPG. Across every facet, from its mechanical design and narrative confidence to its striking art direction and masterful score, Sandfall Interactive has crafted something truly special. This isn’t just a promising debut; it’s a genre-defining work that I believe will shape game design for years to come. It is, without reservation, a masterpiece — and one of my favourite video games of all time.

Death Stranding 2: On the Beach is a game that knows exactly what it wants to be and it delivers that vision with confidence. Its story is heartfelt, its world is stunning, and its gameplay loop is more engaging and refined than ever. While it still may not appeal to everyone, those who connect with it will find an experience unlike anything else out there. This is current-gen gaming at its finest – cinematic, ambitious, and deeply human. Kojima has once again cemented his place among the giants of game development, and Death Stranding 2: On The Beach stands as a bold, emotional, and unforgettable addition to his legacy.

Donkey Kong Bananza is the reason to own a Switch 2. It is not only the most fun I’ve had with a Nintendo game in decades, it’s quite possibly one of Nintendo’s best games ever. Layer upon layer, everything has been built with care and detail. It is fun, silly, joyous, jaw-dropping, and heartfelt. You simply must play this game.

Hollow Knight: Silksong is a grand step forward from a game that was already excellent. With a stronger protagonist and story, improved mobility and exploration and familiar yet very different combat, as a fan of the first game, by the time the credits rolled, it’s a rare case where I immediately just wanted to keep playing more and more. It’s a game that no one should miss this year through and through.

10 / 10.0 - Cairn
Jan 29, 2026

However, if there’s anything to take away from this review, it’s the deep emotional connection I felt during and after the climb. I felt frustration, happiness, sadness, despair, relief, and guilt. For a mostly solitary and quiet game about climbing a mountain, I learned much about myself. I may be exaggerating, I don’t know. But I loved this game! What a fantastic way to start 2026!

10 / 10.0 - Wax Heads

Wax Heads is one of the best games I have played this year. It’s full of cozy stories, amazing music, and wonderful characters. I think anyone who is craving meaningful human connection could learn something from Wax Heads. Now I want to go and watch Empire Records.

When I heard there was a game named “Gori Cuddly Carnage” I wasn’t sure what to expect. I was worried it would like depth, game play and story as many indie games with this sort of humor have in the past. I’m happy to say it has all those things while managing to not where out it’s welcome. The one place it falls short in just a little is the platforming. it’s not all the time but once in a while it just needs spaced out just a bit more. Other then that I loved this game.

Minor complaints aside, I did go in expecting Indiana Jones and the Great Circle to be a good game, as Machine games has always been a solid developer but the game ended up exceeding my expectations. It blends its various gameplay styles together quite well, has an enjoyable story with a great cast of characters that finally gives Indiana Jones his definitive game without ironically being a carbon copy of the two gaming franchises he inspired heavily.

Going into to Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector I had high expectations based on my experience with the first game, and I’m so happy to say that it absolutely smashed those expectations out of the park. It builds on the world and mechanics of this first game – changing and expanding enough that it feels like a fresh experience. For fans of TTRPGs, the two similar but distinct gameplay loops will scratch that mechanical itch. And for those that love storytelling, the choices you make as you play through the game will absolutely leave you eager to fire up a second playthrough to explore what happens at the end of another road.

I had very few complaints about Ender Magnolia: Bloom in the Mist by the time I saw both endings. Adglobe and Live Wire should pat themselves on the back for being a game that helps kick 2025 off in a strong way. To any fans of the metroidvania genre, i’d definitely recommend checking it, as well as it’s predecessor out if you have not.

9.5 / 10.0 - Avowed
Feb 13, 2025

There really is so much to love here. The dialogue you can choose from in your conversations, you can be nice, or if you wanted to be an asshole you had that option. Like I said, Avowed was more than I was hoping for. Xbox and Obsidian really might have Game of the Year on their hands. You can feel the love, hard work, and polish that Obsidian put in making this game. Avowed is a must play for any and every one, go get lost in The Living Lands.

9.5 / 10.0 - Blue Prince
Apr 23, 2025

Blue Prince is a puzzle game for all time, and it deserves a place among the greats of the genre. Its design is masterful, its vision clear, and every moment spent within Mt. Holly Estate feels purposeful, crafted with care and a quiet confidence. I can easily see it becoming a touchstone for puzzle design in the years ahead.

9.5 / 10.0 - Monster Train 2
May 21, 2025

Monster Train 2 meets if not exceeds the bar that they had previously set with the initial Monster Train. For newcomers, perhaps it will feel like option overload even if you choose the easier play style. So for those who need a bit more of an entry point, be patient. For those who want an excellent roguelike experience and hundreds if not thousands of hours, Monster Train 2 is for you.

Duck Detective: The Ghost of Glamping is a mystery game that executes everything they want to do to near perfection. It’s a fun, simple, and short palate cleanser game. Only downfall, if any, is that it’s executed so well, that I wish there were more. This is the second game to the Duck Detective series, and I am very much looking forward to the next one!
